What are Dust Jackets?
Dust jackets are a protective and decorative cover wrapped around a hardcover book. It adds visual appeal with printed designs, titles, and imagery, while also protecting the book’s cover from wear and tear. Dust jackets are a popular choice for premium publications, gift books, and collector editions.
What stock are dust Jackets made from?
Dust jackets are typically made from 170 gsm coated stock, which we laminate for most projects. However, we’ve also produced dust jackets using craft papers, transparent stocks, and uncoated papers to suit a variety of design styles and effects.”
How long should I make my dust Jacket?
We recommend folding dust jackets approximately one-third of the way around the book cover. When designing your dust jacket, be sure to account for this fold, as well as the spine thickness and the front and back cover thickness, to ensure a precise and professional fit.
What finishing options are avaliable?
All the finishing options available for book covers — including foiling, embossing, and spot UV — can also be applied to dust jackets. Customize your dust jackets exactly how you want them for a premium, professional finish.
