What is Section Sewn Binding?
Section sewn binding involves folding pages into "sections", then sewing them together with thread before attaching them to the spine to create book blocks. These blocks can then be mounted into soft or hardcover books.

Which books use Section sewn Binding?
Section-sewn binding is ideal for high-quality books that need durability and longevity, such as novels, art books, cookbooks, and academic publications. As this binding method allows the book to lie flat when open and withstand frequent use it really is a great binding solution for all books.
Can you do Custom sizes?
We can produce section-sewn books in custom sizes, ranging from 150 mm × 150 mm up to 420 mm × 420 mm — covering everything from A5 to larger-than-A3 formats.
What page counts can you do?
Section-sewn books start at a minimum of 24 pages and, depending on paper thickness, can go up to 1,500 pages. Because pages are printed in sections, certain page counts are more cost-effective than others — contact us to see if your chosen page count could benefit your next project.
How long does it take?
